FAQs
Is there parking?
While we recommend walking or taking a ride-share to the event, there is self-parking at the Sheraton Waikiki garage for $15 with a validated ticket. There is also special event valet at the hotel for $20 with a validated ticket (not including gratuity). Parking is not guaranteed at either space and is based on availability.
Is this an indoor or outdoor wedding? What is the weather like?
The wedding ceremony and reception will take place outdoors, but we will have a backup room in the unlikely case of rain. June in Waikiki is normally a high of 86°F & a low of 72°F. The space we will be in is partially shaded, however we recommend wearing sunscreen to protect your skin from the strong UV rays, and bug spray if you are sensitive to bugs. Please keep in mind it may be warm while the sun is up.
Have you reserved room blocks?
Yes. See the “location” tab for more information on how to book.
What is the dress code? Do you have a color theme?
The vibe is fun and we are encouraging “aloha formal” attire. Color, tropical prints, florals, sparkle, animal prints, and vintage aloha encouraged. Dressy Hawaiian shirts or button downs with slacks, and dresses or jumpsuits. We will be leaning into the pink of the hotel, sunset colors, and the green of the surrounding foliage. For those who really love an opportunity to dress up-don’t be afraid to outshine the bride! Please keep in mind it is warm, so we suggest light fabrics. We will be on grass for the entire day, wear shoes that won’t sink into the dirt (no spiky heels).
Am I allowed to bring a plus one?
Due to budget and space limitations, and to preserve the intimacy of the event, we can’t allow for all of our lovely guests to bring a guest of their own. We ask our guests to please not bring a plus one, unless they are specifically named on the invitation. Thank you for understanding.
Am I allowed to bring children?
We have limited seating available for keiki and kindly ask that local guests make arrangements for child care if possible. We completely understand that many families will be traveling from afar with small children — if you are unable to be separated from your little ones, they are warmly welcome to join.
When you RSVP, please let us know how many children you’ll be bringing and whether you’ll need a child seat. Infants under 12 months will need to remain in a parent’s arms or lap during the event.
If you’re hoping for a night off from parenting, the hotel recommends “Poppins Keiki Hawaii” for trusted in-room babysitting services. You can also visit Care.com to find local, background-checked babysitters.
Guests staying at The Royal Hawaiian can also email RoyalHawaiian-Concierge@pleasant.net for concierge assistance in arranging in-room babysitting.
Where can I find gear for beach day?
Most hotels will provide umbrellas, beach chairs, towels etc for the day, sometimes for a fee. Check with your hotel. You can find floaties & sunscreen as well as snacks and drinks at any ABC store. Costco is also has chairs and umbrellas to buy. There may be kiosks along Kalākaua that rent gear as well.
